Introduction

This paper discusses Ph.D. dissertation topics on the combination of theatre education and creative drama in teacher education for the purpose of gender equality. The purpose of the research it to provide preservice teachers with the necessary tools to be more gender-inclusive in the classroom, while also delineating how the use of children’s picture books, in addition to theatre education and creative drama, can contest normative gender roles of preservice teachers and thus can foster attitudes of inclusion. The research aims to create a pedagogical framework to equip preservice teachers for gender-inclusive classroom practice. The research is important, as it responds to a lack of gender equality training in existing curricula.

3. The Role of Theatre in Developing Multiple Intelligences: Insights for Learning Disabilities

Focus: This study will propose the view that theatre engages multiple intelligences (bodily-kinaesthetic, interpersonal, and intrapersonal) in the students with learning disabilities and examine their impact on cognitive ability flexibility, socialisation, and emotional regulation.

4. Neuropsychological Impact of Theatre Education on Students with Learning Disabilities: Benefits and Effects

Focus: The dissertation will examine the neuropsychic dimensions of students with learning disabilities in their participation in theatre art forms. In particular, the study will look into how theatre activates neural networks and benefits students’ memory, attention, executive function, emotional regulation, and social cognition.

5. Bridging the Gap: Implementing Theatre in Special Education Settings for Learning Disabilities

Focus: The dissertation will address the issues surrounding theatre-based learning given in special education classrooms for students with learning disabilities. The top priority for this study would be to recognise what specific challenges teachers will find or confront and to provide solutions and recommendations to maximise any positive results for students learning through theatre in a special education classroom.

Focus: The research study of children’s picture books is designed to investigate the use of children’s picture books for gender equity and what preservice teachers notice related to gender roles in education.

9. Combining Creative Drama and Gender Sensitivity Education: Enhancing Teacher Training for Equality

Focus: This research will examine ways to incorporate creative drama and gender-sensitive education into teacher education to increase awareness and diminish gender stereotyping.

10. Creative Drama and Picture Books: Tools for Challenging Gender Stereotypes in Teacher Education

Focus: This study is exploratory in examining the use of creative drama and picture books with preservice teachers to challenge gender stereotyping and work towards developing more inclusivity together.
