Introduction

The field of International Relations (IR) has transformed significantly over the last several decades, especially due to greater geopolitical shifts, economic changes, and new global security problems. In this dissertation, we will consider central issues influencing international relations globally including globalization, security, human rights, diplomacy, and environmental issues, while considering how these forces interact in a globalized world.

International Relations Dissertation Titles

1. The Effects of Globalization on Sovereignty: A Comparative Study of Developed and Developing Countries

Focus: This dissertation investigates how globalization influences state sovereignty by comparing how developed and developing countries adapt to changes in economics, culture, and politics on a global scale.

2. The Role of International Organizations in Climate Change: A case study of the UN and WTO

Focus: This study can consider how successful international organizations like the UN and WTO have been in addressing global climate change and in working to address some of the bigger issues surrounding climate change that deal with the longer-term difficulties of creating binding agreements.

3. Humanitarian Intervention Politics: Case Studies of Syria and Libya

Focus: This research looks at the politics of humanitarian intervention, potentially in the cases of Syria and Libya, to assess why the international community intervened (or did not intervene) using both ethical and strategic lenses when considering humanitarian interventions.

4. The role of Regional Power in Global Security: A case study of India's and Brazil's Foreign Policy Approaches

Focus: This dissertation considers how regional powers such as India and Brazil role shapes international security through their foreign policies and their contributions to regional stability resulting from their international alliances.

5. Cybersecurity and International Relations: The Impact of Cyber Warfare on International Relations

Focus: This doctoral dissertation researched the increasing relevance of cybersecurity in international relations; more specifically, the ramifications of cyberattacks, digital war and internet governance on international politics and economies.

6. The Trajectory of Peacekeeping missions: The role of the UN in Post-conflict reconstruction

Focus: This dissertation evaluated the effectiveness of UN peacekeeping operations in different contexts, with particular reference to how they affect areas such as peacekeeping, post-conflict reconstruction, human rights abuses, nation-building or supporting fragile states in crises like Sudan and Haiti.

7. Economic sanctions as foreign policy tools: successes and failures with Iran and North Korea

Focus: This study focused on the use of economic sanctions as foreign policy levers and gauged their impact in the context of neighbors of Iran, North Korea, and the efficacy around foreign policy goals.

8. The rise of populism and their impact on international relations: an international perspective

Focus: This study examined the legitimacy and consequences of the rise of populist movements around the world and its implications for international relations for example, implications for alliances, changes of trade, and international governance.

9. Negotiating Peace Diplomatically: The Israel-Palestine Peace Process

Focus: This dissertation discusses the diplomatic strategies of the Israel-Palestinian conflict, discussing successes, failures, and future opportunities for the two sides for peace negotiations.

10. Global Trade Dynamic: The Role of Emerging Economies in Global Trade Agreements

Focus: This research addresses the role of emerging economies (ex: China, India, etc.) in global trade are contributing/transformation global trade agreements, with emphasis on trade wars, new economic partnerships, and new economic blocs.
