Introduction

The importance of social policy cannot be overestimated as it shapes the welfare, health, and education systems of societies. Due to increasing inequalities, ongoing globalization, and issues related to demographic changes, urgency to understand how social policy is shaped has never been greater. This dissertation will focus on the problems of social policy, and will cover welfare reform, poverty reduction, education, health care access, and social justice, among others. The aim will be to examine how social policy compounds to shape society and help mitigate socio-economic inequalities.

Social Policy Dissertation Titles

1. The Role of Social Welfare Systems in Alleviating Poverty: A Comparative Study in Developed and Developing Countries

Focus: This dissertation proposes to research the impact of social welfare systems in the reduction of poverty comparing welfare as a system in developed nations such as the US and UK to the approaches offered in developing nations such as India or Kenya.

2. Education Policy and Social Mobility: The impact of policies to promote access to Higher Education for disadvantaged communities

Focus: This dissertation proposes to research the correlation between education policy and social mobility with particular emphasis on how government policies foster access to higher education opportunities for students who have low incomes or marginalized backgrounds.

3. The Effects of Healthcare Policy on Mental Health: A case study of National Mental Health strategies

Focus: This dissertation will assess national mental health policies and how they shape the public mental health response through the case of countries with health policies that outline a clear national health strategy. They will entail the NHS model of the United Kingdom.

4. Welfare Reform and its effects on single-parent households: A cross-national study

Focus: This dissertation will examine the impact of welfare reforms on single-parent households. A comparative analysis of relevant policies in US, Sweden and Australia will be made while analysing child poverty and the family support of lone teen.

5. Immigration Policy and Social Integration: An Examination of Refugee Resettlement

Focus: This research will examine the way different countries design and implement immigration policies, in particular the social policies in place to assist with integration of refugees or immigrants into society.

6. The Role of Social Housing Policies in Reducing Homelessness: A Comparative approach Exploring issues at Urban and Rural Locations

Focus: I will compare the role of government funded social housing policies in terms of reducing homelessness in urban versus rural locations, as long as the research is conducted in different countries.

7. Gender Equality and Social Policy: Impacts of gendered specific policy and social welfare

Focus: This research will assess the impacts on welfare policies that embeds gender sensitive consideration with respect to women’s empowerment or agency, in developed and developing countries.

8. The Role of Community-Based Social Services to address Child Abuse: A Study of Case Studies

Focus: This dissertation will examine the effectiveness of community-based services and programs in the prevention and address of child abuse – through case studies of an area of each of the geographic regions.

9. The Impact of Social Policy on Poverty Support for the Elderly: A Comparative Visit of Pension Systems in Eastern and Western Europe

Focus: Will examine the impact of pensions and social services to elderly people, with comparisons between Western Europe (Germany) and Eastern Europe (Poland).

10. Globalization and Social Policy: The Changing Face of Social Policy in Global Economic Crises

Focus: This study plans to examine the impacts of social policy frameworks in response to global economic crises, in terms of the social safety nets created in response to the financial crash of 2008, and the Covid-19 pandemic.
